The Business Innovation Directorate at the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety are responsible for helping the Department and its staff adapt to the challenges and opportunities of the future. They engaged us to help them design and facilitate two Data Forum events, where staff were invited to learn about and explore new ways to collect, share, interpret and apply data.
We delivered two half-day Data Forum events, with one forum run in person and the second online. Working with over 60 participants in total, we facilitated a series of interactive exercises to name and prioritise key data stakeholders within the department, and to identify a collection of potential quick wins when it comes to data management at DMIRS.
These sessions were intended to spark the thinking of DMIRS staff about innovative approaches to data, and how better capture, visualisation and cooperation can help the department to create more value for stakeholders using data. As the department develops and rolls out their new Data Management Strategy, the team we worked with will be able to target and collaborate with the right people at the right time to ensure a smooth transition into a data-driven future.
